It’s been done.
I've now left the largest marketing research data collection tool in the known universe: Facebook. While disguised as a social networking site for all of us, the primary purpose of that site is to collect and market data about users' activities. Not individual users, but aggregate data about what's trending in order to drive marketing.
I decided that I no longer wish to be a part of that universe. I have gladly deleted my account from Facebook. (Yes, you can ask to have it permanently deleted. Check the help center.)
Also, sometime in the next few days, this will cease to be a blog and merely a personal homepage for me and my info. When that happens, I'll happily provide links to my online presence elsewhere.
