Some screenshots of XBMC on my XBOX.
I really enjoy XBMC. It's the only thing that makes my old first-gen XBOX worth a damn any more. GameStop no longer carries them, but PS2 and GameCube titles are readily available. So, an open source project has given it new life.
Here's some recent screenshots:

Infovore » If Gamers Ran The World
I'm working on a post about my gaming habit. In the meantime, though, I ran into this:
Infovore -- If Gamers Ran The World.
An insightful look to some of the lesser known elements of gaming.
Bad Days for Newsrooms—and Democracy
Folks, this isn't just the report of someone hoping to save their job. It's a proclamation of the dark future in store for us all if we don't begin to realize the value of journalism in a free society.
---
Journalist Chris Hedges reports on the decline of the newspaper industry and how this is leading us further down the dark path of a total corporate takeover of the information we receive.

Taking the bitter and the sweet.
This is a sad day. LugRadio is coming to an end.
I can't say I've been a fan since show one as I didn't even become aware of LugRadio until Season 2. After hearing one episode, however, I was immediately hooked. Many a night providing support for a nameless media player was spent with headphones on, listening to the gents debate and discuss the "finer" points of being a Linux user.
When the LugRadio crew embarked on what will now be the only U.S. showing of LugRadio Live, I made sure to attend. The show was wonderful and there was great enthusiasm about Linux that I know I'll be a Linux user for years to come.
Hats off to LugRadio. Thank you for a wonderful run. You'll always be the best Linux podcast.
How Mainstream Is Your Music?
For all of us "last.fm (social networking for musos)":http://last.fm/user/papabean geeks:
The Mainstream-O-Meter calculates your mainstreamness by comparing the listener count of your favorite bands to the average listener count of the five bands who have the most listeners among Last.fm-users.

Tron turns 25!

This film is one of my all-time favorites and really cemented my love for computers and computer graphics. Glad to see it getting some positive attention so many years after I first enjoyed it in theaters.
In honor of tomorrow’s festivities.
For those that don't know, tomorrow I am going to the hospital for a colonoscopy. I've never undergone one before but Dennis Wolfberg had and shared his experience with the rest of us. I saw this sketch MANY moons ago and it's been running through my head for the last few weeks. I was very glad to find it on "YouTube":http://www.youtube.com.
The first portion of the clip is funny, but not the relevant piece. Watch until the end and I think you'll be pleasantly rewarded.

VAST in Sacramento
I am so excited!!! One of my favorite bands is going to be playing less than three miles away from where I live!
"VAST (Visual Audio Sensory Theater)":http://www.vast.com will be playing at the "Blue Lamp (Skeezy Dive Club)":http://www.bluelamp.com in Sacramento. I pass the "Blue Lamp (Skeezy Dive Club)":http://www.bluelamp.com on a regular basis since it's right around the corner and I always check the names. Last night, for whatever reason, I didn't look as we passed. However, "Peej (I love her so!)":http://www.princessjeni.org did and immediately announced that "VAST (Visual Audio Sensory Theater)":http://www.vast.com would be playing. I asked when and found out it was today.
I called the "Blue Lamp (Skeezy Dive Club)":http://www.bluelamp.com and tickets are available at the door for $10. For $10, I will definitely be there. If you think you will be, too, and you're on "last.fm (Social Music Revolution)":http://www.last.fm/user/papabean, indicate that you'll be attending the "show (VAST at the Blue Lamp)":http://www.last.fm/event/219730.
Hope to see you there!
