Bad Days for Newsrooms—and Democracy

Folks, this isn't just the report of someone hoping to save their job. It's a proclamation of the dark future in store for us all if we don't begin to realize the value of journalism in a free society.

---

@ MacWorld!

OMFG! This is _fantastic_! I'm sitting in Moscone Center South in the Microsoft Blogging Lounge (Photo to come later). Yeah, I know, I know.
But at least they've got free internet access for bloggers.

There are SOOOoooo many vendors here with a lot of new products. Of course, the most exciting news of the day was the Apple iPhone. Didn't get to see the keynote announcement since the exhibit hall didn't open until after, but I saw the presentation inside and as much as it pains me to admit it, Apple did it right.

Well, enough for now. Jen and I are going to see if we can get in to see Kevin Smith. Gotta run!

MacWorld’s coming!

Well..._where_ to begin? _Nowhere_. It would take *way* too long to detail the current events of my life.

So, instead let me just tell you that in two short days I am going to MacWorld in San Francisco. That's right. Going to head straight into the belly of the beast and watch ever-adoring Apple fans drool and moan as Apple unveils new product and Apple's new direction. Should be lots of fun. I'll let ya know when it's over.

Anyway, in the meantime, here's some pictures of me and my date for MacWorld. Enjoy!

Still loving life.

*I* am still _grooving_ on "textmate (THE text editor for the Mac)":http://macromates.com. I am posting my entries from within my text editor. I don't know why I think that's so amazingly hot, but I do. Okay. Enough from me.

Until next time...

TextMate rocks!

Man, I love when I discover new tools. And "textmate (the missing editor)":http://macromates.com is no exception. I've just started using it since Tamal suggested it. I would go in to the list of features that make it THE ideal text editor, but the "textmate (the missing editor)":http://macromates.com site says it all.

My quick faves

Just wanted to provide some linkage to my favorite tools and webpages.

"Last.fm (Social Music)":http://www.last.fm/user/papabean - My absolute favorite social site on the net. For music fans only.
"electricsheep (Global screensaver)":http://www.electricsheep.org - Cross-platform screensaver. Produces some of the most elegant images ever rendered on a computer screen.
"Orisinal (Flash minigames)":http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ - Some great flash minigames and no ads. Great way to kill an afternoon.
"Quicksilver (Mac OS X Swiss Army Knife)":http://quicksilver.blacktree.com - If you're running "Mac OS X (TIger)":http://www.apple.com/macosx, you should be running Quicksilver.

That's it for now. Peace to everyone.

__EDIT:__
"delicious bookmarks (social bookmarking)":http://del.icio.us/papabean - I don't know how this slipped my mind. An incredible way to bookmark your favorite sites.
